Dubrovnik

Updated: Nov 22, 2023

Our guests like to do day trips to get to know as many parts of our beautiful homeland as possible. Dubrovnik is one of the one-day trip destinations, which you can do without much effort while staying at Villa Yanko. Especially from June 2022, when the Pelješac Bridge will be opened to traffic and shorten this distance to about 1.5 hours drive from Villa Yanko.

We at Villa Yanko are overjoyed because our guests do not have to cross the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the city of Neum, which especially in the high season creates traffic jams, customs, and traffic controls at the border crossing on departure and return, before building Peljesac Bridge. The Pelješac Bridge connects the Mali Ston Bay between Komarna on the mainland and Brijesta on the Pelješac Peninsula, thus achieving road continuity in the territory of the Republic of Croatia interrupted by a narrow corridor that leads Bosnia and Herzegovina to the sea near Neum.

Today we are proud because we feel as if we have finally connected and united Croatia with this Pelješac Bridge after more than thirty years since the independence of Croatia.

The Pelješac Bridge itself is one of the most beautiful bridges in this part of Europe and in itself is worth seeing. Visit the town of Ston where you will eat fresh fish and shellfish directly from the sea in excellent restaurants :-).

Have we convinced you that this trip is a valuable part of your holidays?

More than a thousand years of Dubrovnik's history are present in every part of this city. It is a city museum and a living stage, an ideal blend of history and modernity. It is surrounded by medieval walls 1940 m long which have been preserved in their original form and opened to visitors as the biggest attraction. Since 1979 the city has been under the protection of UNESCO.

Dubrovnik is primarily a cultural destination that, in addition to monumental treasures, offers a number of cultural events and festivals. Dubrovnik is also extremely well connected with all major centers of Europe. Dubrovnik is a city that enchants you, that you fall in love with and come to again and again, discovering unique experiences in it.

Dubrovnik is titled the pearl of the Adriatic mostly because of its rich cultural and historical heritage. The famous George Bernard Shaw wrote that "those who seek paradise on earth must come to Dubrovnik".

Dubrovnik, the center of the Dubrovnik region in the extreme south of the Croatian coast, deservedly bears the title of "pearl of the Adriatic". The harmony of centuries-old buildings and the walls with which it is dangerous imposes itself like an unreal scene from fairy tales.

Enjoy the top summer activities of Dubrovnik and experience the beautiful local natural and historical heritage from the sea. From the Srđ mountain, discover a stunning view of the old town, the city walls, and the island of Lokrum and learn something about the history of Dubrovnik.
