It is useful to know before coming to Croatia

TRAVEL DOCUMENTS

When entering the Republic of Croatia, foreign citizens must have a valid passport or an internationally recognized identification document. If you are a citizen of the European Union, a valid identity card is sufficient. Foreign citizens who enter Croatia as tourists can stay in Croatia for up to three months.


VISAS

Foreign citizens, holders of valid Schengen documents, as well as holders of visas and residence permits from Bulgaria, Cyprus and Romania do not need an additional Croatian visa for Croatia. In accordance with the visa regime of the Republic of Croatia, a visa is required for foreign citizens coming from countries that require a visa to enter the country. A visa must be obtained before entering the Republic of Croatia, and it is issued by the consular office of the Republic of Croatia. CUSTOMS PROVISIONS

Customs regulations in the Republic of Croatia are almost completely harmonized with the regulations of the European Union countries. When entering the Republic of Croatia, foreign citizens and tourists have the right to bring personal luggage, including food, medicine and other personal belongings in accordance with customs regulations. Foreign and domestic currency and checks can be brought in and out of the country freely, and can be brought in and taken out by foreign and Croatian citizens residing abroad. However, transfers in the amount of €10,000.00 or more must be reported to the customs officer. Valuable personal equipment and other technical devices must also be declared to the customs officer when crossing the border. CURRENCY

As of January 1, 2023, the Euro is the official currency in Croatia, and all payments can be made in the Euro currency.


PETS

Your pets are welcome in Croatia! If you want to take your four-legged friends on vacation to Croatia, you must provide them with the necessary veterinary documentation on the animal's health. Cats and dogs must also be marked with a microchip. Entry into the Republic of Croatia with up to five pets is possible at border crossings that are approved for the transport of pets, while entry with more than five pets is allowed at border crossings where there is also a veterinary inspection. During public holidays and public holidays, all public institutions and individual shops throughout Croatia are closed.

ELECTRICITY AND WATER

The electrical voltage used in Croatia is 220V, frequency 50Hz. To be able to use their electrical devices, tourists from the USA must use a transformer, and tourists from Great Britain an adapter for the European power grid. The tap water is drinkable throughout Croatia, so there is no need to buy bottled water.
