Hvar is an ancient city with a rich history. The city faces the sunny South side of the world and has the sunniest days during the year. Its name comes from the island's Greek name Pharos. You can visit their city's historical monuments the fortress Fortica, the Hvar cathedral, the theatre, and the Franciscan monastery. It has been inhabited since prehistoric times, originally by Neolithic people whose distinctive pottery gave rise to the term Hvar culture, and later by the Illyrians. The ancient Greeks founded the colony of Pharos in 384 BC on the site of today's Start Grad, making it one of the oldest towns in Europe. Start Grad Plain is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Split - is the largest city in the region, and is the country's busiest port. Split has much to offer and many things to do.
The story of Split is already 17 centuries old, dating to the time the Roman Emperor Diocletian decided to build his Palace right on the peninsula near the great Roman city of Salona, where he wanted to spend the last years of his life. During these 1700 years, the Palace slowly turned into a city, which to this day lures with its rich tradition, glorious history, and beauty of its natural and cultural heritage.
Diocletian Palace and the entire historical core of Split have been on the World Heritage UNESCO list ever since 1979, not only for the extraordinary preservation of the Palace but also because of the Palace and its city (or the city and its Palace, if you like) continue to live a full life. All historical layers from old Rome, and the middle ages to today are still visible and alive in this structure. A walk through the ancient city takes you through time, along with the great examples of ancient architecture like Peristyle, the middle-aged Romanesque Church and Gothic Palace, Renaissance portals of the noblemen’s houses, Baroque facades, and modern architecture superbly merged in the rich heritage.
Such stratification is mirrored in the everyday life of Split. Local inhabitants sit in the same cafes, and restaurants, shop in the same stores as tourists, giving them the impression that, by arriving at Split, they became a part of the city and its rhythm. The vegetable market and the fish market represent the center of each family’s life in Split, just as the entire social life of this city of 200 thousand reflects on the Riva (waterfront), where every guest should endeavor to have his coffee alongside noisy, temperamental folk of Split.
Split is much more than glorious architectural scenery. Split is also a venue for excellent gourmet and vine experiences, numerous cultural happenings like film and theatre festivals, exhibitions, excellent museums, and concerts, a city that offers eclectic modes of entertainment starting with numerous clubs and bars, through street festivals to events such as Ultra Europe Festival visited each year by up to 100 thousand young people from around one hundred countries of the world. Split with its sports results is something only a handful of cities of similar size around the world can boast about as it is the home of a dozen Olympic medal winners as well as other sports medals.
When you are tired of the city bustle, there’s Marjan, a hill symbol of the city, with its forest, jogging trails, mountain climbing and biking, recreational terrains, and also the ancient churches where the late citizens of Split sought spiritual peace. Also very unusual to find in a city the size of Split are the numerous beaches with extraordinarily clean sea, from the well-known Bačvice to the stone secluded oases’ all around Marjan.

Natur Park Biokovo - it is a mountain with roots in the sea and a forehead in the clouds. Every step to the highest peak, Sveti Jure at 1762 meters above sea level, is immensely rewarded by the panorama of the sea and the islands, the Dalmatian hinterland, the mountains of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and neighboring Italy. On the stone of Biokovo, 87 churches, and chapels have been erected. In addition to its proud heights, the mountain also has surprising depths. Over 400 pits and caves have been discovered. Some of them are eternally filled with snow and ice, resisting even the hottest sunshine.
The botanical garden above the village of Kotišina is partly located within the Park. On a relatively small surface, highly diverse habitats can be found here: rocks, talus cones, steep stone walls, arable plots, as well as the Proslap Canyon with the cascade of the same name. The cascade is dry most of the year, brought to life only during heavy rains. Approximately 300 wild plant taxa have been discovered, ranging from the typically Mediterranean to mountain species. The park area of Biokovo is characterized by dollies and sinkholes. In individual, more spacious dollies, one sometimes comes across a range of smaller ones. The bottom parts of some dollies are also the beginning of pits of amazing depth, given the fact that they are located over 1000 meters above sea level. Some pits are several hundred meters deep. In the central part of Biokovo, dollies appear in the form of thickly packed groups dominating the terrain. In terms of appearance, they resemble Moon craters. The southern, littoral side of the mountain is an area of barren rocks and cliffs several hundred meters high. Bare stone cliffs on one side, and green flysch zones along the sea on the other - that is the majestic green contrast that can be experienced only in Biokovo.
Skywalk Biokovo - the most attractive walkway in Croatia
The project is worth around 8 million kunas (about 1 million euros) and includes the arrangement of the plateau and construction of a geological column and the skywalk itself, that is, a walking surface at the edge of a cliff covering an area of 40 m², above an abyss around 100 meters deep at the Ravna Vlaška viewpoint, 1228 meters above sea level. From the viewpoint plateau, there is a view of the open sea and the concrete-steel skywalk platform in an attractive horseshoe shape with a safety barrier and a floor made entirely of glass! This unique and attractive platform will enable visitors to enjoy extreme and unforgettable walks in controlled conditions.
– The viewpoint upgrade – Ravna Vlaška Skywalk is the most attractive segment of the project.
The project is financed by the European Regional Development Fund.
The Skywalk Biokovo is visible from the terrace of Villa Yanko, which we are very proud of.
